It's hard for me to believe that CUTweetTrack isn't even 2 months old (first update May 18th). Since that date, we've experienced fast growth in both numbers and participation. Currently, we are tracking 311, mostly US, CUs and we've posted over 200 updates (all information--no personal stuff or opinions). And an increasing number of CU consultants and personnel (many of whom I consider to be some of the top CU innovators) are following us.
At first, many were very anxious to define the expectations of Twitter(for CUs). Some tried to judge its success based on how well it connected with Gen Y. Some saw the number of followers as a benchmark of success. But the bottom line is that many were rushing to place an ROI measure on Twitter.
Fast forward (6 whole weeks) and what I see is that Twitter, for CUs, is still yet to be defined. But I do see patterns emerging. Potentially productive patterns. Twitter is becoming a marvelous tool for CUs to exchange ideas with, quickly and efficiently. I see some Twitter efforts being used to support some very imaginative CU campaigns (like EarnorBurn). Employment seems to be an untapped avenue for Twitter.
I guess what I am suggesting is that we shouldn't be rushing to judge the success or failure of Twitter (for CUs) quite yet. So when someone from upper management drops by to ask "How is our Twitter project coming along"---just tell them that we're still "under construction" and to "stay tuned"!
